Valentine Walks on her new prosthetic!

Valentine’s Day Approaches

HELLO EVERYONE! Two days away from our event. The weather will be mild and we have a very shaded, green, beautiful venue to host our Valentine’s Day Event this Saturday June 9th at Pioneer Park in Lucerne Valley. Please come and share this information with all your friends. I included photo of park. It’s even better than this photo. Music, food, door prizes, animals, trainers, other rescues, will all be there for you to enjoy. All dogs must be on leashes. Valentine is looking forward to meeting all of you. ~sounds of silent spirits

Pioneer Park in Lucerne Valley

Valentine has been too busy enjoying her new leg to notice, but she is making the news again.

Check out Valentine in the Sun Newspaper today.  Thank you so much Michel Nolan, you are a wonderful supporter of our organization.

Justice for all abused animals

Although we are all outraged by the out come of Valentine’s Criminal and circumstances around the decision, LET us focus on getting the laws changed so the court system can do a better job when they catch animal Abusers. So I am asking you to think about helping us get the laws changed for convicting them properly. We need Folks that have some expertise to help us. I have been given so wonderful sources on Attorneys. But if you can volunteer and help guide us as we have never done anything like this we need you knowledge. And you don’t even have to live near by. Let’s focus our outrage to the top instead of the bottom. Below is Governor Brown’s info as well as all other government representatives. This is where we need to focus our energy. THANK YOU http://www.orthopets.com for this amazing prosthetic. Finally our Miss Valentine can walk like other doggies! Isn’t she amazing! Earlier I posted a photo of her at the Omya invite, and you can see that now she has no cast and that her amputated leg is now sporting a state-of-the-art prosthetic. We are very happy for Valentine. NO MORE LIMPING. Come and see her Saturday June 9th and share the love of Valentine.

Omya and Valentine

We had a very successful day at Omya Limestone Quarry’s Open House yesterday. Dale and Jim are the to employees who found Valentine on Feb. 9th of this year. Her broken puppy body hobbled along the rail road track at the plant. Dale and Jim immediately knew she was in distress and phone Sounds of Silent Spirits and we rushed her to Dr. Velasco at Bear Valley Pet Hospital. All the employees, their family members, and a host of other community folks, had the joy of seeing Valentine as she looks today. Her progress is profound, gaining nearly 15 pounds, all her wounds healed, yet she still has healing to go on her amputated right leg and her left broken paw. But her disposition was of a happy, well-adjusted, and very loved dog.

RATTLESNAKE AVOIDANCE TRAINING FOR DOGS

We only recommend this Avoidance Trainer and no one else, Erick Brigg, is an amazing animal trainer and has the most effective rattlesnake avoidance training. Our Adoption Coordinator has been using him for five years and has had 100% success. She lives in an area with Mojave Rattlesnakes and in the past three years she has had four in her dog area. NOT one dog has been bitten and retreats immediately when they are discovered. If you are interested, the clinic will be on May 6th at the hosted by Morongo Basin Humane Society in Joshua Tree. Well worth the drive. Here is the link to RVSP http://www.mbhumanesociety.com/events.html

Valentine 4-11-12

“What counts is not necessarily the size of the dog in the fight; it’s the size of the fight in the dog.”
– Dwight D. Eisenhower

We couldn’t have said it better. Valentine is a champion overcoming her near fatal injuries, 7 weeks hospital stay, and now, frequent visits back to Dr. Velasco’s office for follow-up treatment. She is “true-Dog”, always being in the moment. Valentine, as seen here, believes that this has always been her life, and that, our friends, is why all of us at Sounds of Silent Spirits continue to “suit up, and show-up” even when some days can be beyond overwhelming.

VALENTINE PLAYING

We are so pleased that Valentine is adjusting to her home-life with ease. She is such a special girl and it’s hard to believe that she endured such cruelty only a couple of months ago and SURVIVED it. As you can see she is playing with her toy with contentment. Thanks to all the folks you have supported her emotionally and financially.
